Hello Whichitra, I am going to study in Brisbane and I so excited about it :) I have one question... I am a vegetarian and I was wondering if there is a good variety of food for vegetarians? Many thanks :)

Hi! Yes, it is very exciting to study in Brisbane :) Brisbane caters for all kind of food enthusiasts, including vegetarians. Many restaurants offer vegetarian food and there are also specialist vegetarian restaurants and organic supermarkets and also fresh food markets all around Brisbane. Also if you have other specific dietary requirements like me who has to eat halal food, Brisbane also offers some restaurants where the food is certified halal and there are a few halal butchers in the City where you can get halal meat. Hope this helps! :)

Hi Wichitra, Do you have any advice about applying for a scholarship to study?

Hello! That's a good question.. a lot of people from Indonesia are here on a scholarship. If you are from Indonesia, there are some scholarships available to study in Australia. The most popular one is the Australian Development Scholarships which is targeted for postgraduate study (like myself). Applications are usually open in June or July to September each year and will be announced in national newspapers in Indonesia. Other scholarships offered include Australian Leadership Awards and Endeavour awards for a wide range of education levels from study exchange to postdoctoral research. Another way is to contact the university you wish to study in as they might have specific scholarships on offer. Or you can search for scholarships offered by the Indonesian government such as the Dikti or Depkominfo scholarships. My advice on applying scholarships is secure your place first in the school you are interested in. This can be done by visiting education exhibitions/fairs in your city and when you go there bring your academic papers such as certificates, IELTS/TOEFL etc as some schools offer registration on the spot and you can save registration fee. My other advice is keep trying... you might not get lucky the first time around but if you persevere you might just get it :) and once you start studying in the school, maintain excellent grades and the school might offer scholarships to outstanding students that you can apply for. Good luck!
