- What is my budget?
- How long will I stay?
- Will I use a car or public transport?
- Do I want to involve lifestyle into my choice of location?
on campus accommodation
Some institutions have accommodation available on campus, this is ideal if you want to live with other students from the same institution, close to your place of study. Typically, these are multi-room residences, and you will be provided with a bedroom with a single bed, desk and chair and storage space.Bathrooms are commonly shared.
Living on campus may also include access to group study rooms, computer labs, common rooms, gardens, music rooms and sporting facilities.
Three meals per day are generally offered and this is included in the accommodation fees. Contracts usually apply; it is important to read the terms and conditions to fully understand your obligations and what other fees may be incurred.
Check with your chosen institution of study what on-campus options they have available.
international residence
These are residences specialising in purpose built student housing for students from any institution. You will be provided with a single study bedroom and have meals provided in a shared dining hall.
Contracts usually apply; it is important to read the terms and conditions to fully understand your obligations and what other fees may be incurred.
independent renting of a house or a flat

home stay
Home-stay is an opportunity to live with an Australian family and experience Australian life and culture by participating in the daily routine of the host family's life.
Your chosen institution of study may have a database of home-stay options within easy commuting access to your institution.
Host families take an active interest in their students and assist them to assimilate into their new environment. Typically a home-stay includes breakfast, dinner and a packed lunch if required. Students are responsible for the costs of washing, ironing, telephone and transport.
youth hostels and backpackers
Hostels provide budget-oriented, sociable accommodation where guests can rent a bed (sometimes a bunk bed in a dormitory) and share a bathroom, lounge and sometimes a kitchen. Rooms can be mixed or single-sex, although private rooms may also be available. These can be a very good short-term option while you are settling in Brisbane and looking for more temporary accommodation.
