Hi there
My name is Ryan.
I work for Brisbane City Council and am helping organise events for National Youth Week (youthweek.com) April 13-22.
Forgive me if you are no longer an ambassador for Study Brisbane - i found you on their website and thought you may be able to provide some advice.
Im keen to make contact with someone about getting international and multicultural students involved in youth week- both to make sure that existing events cater for everyone AND to see if any students might want to organise their own event, exhibition, activity, forum or anything else that celebrates the contribution that young people make to Brisbane. Please let me know who i could speak to about this (hoping it might be you).
I should also mention that we don have some funding/ money to contribute if students are interested in organsing their own events for Youth Week.
Hope to hear from you
Thanks

Eligibility for apply for International Student Ambassador
|
posted by:Lulu Shen on: 9 Jan 2012

Hi Doris,
I found out your post on Facebook RE the application for the Brisbane International Student Ambassador. I was wondering how to be eligible for this application? I mean, I, myself, was an International student, now graduated and working. I have got rich experiences as an International student and an expatriate in Australia, though I have never studied in Brisbane...I was wondering if 'living and studying in Brisbane' is an essential requirement of this application, or it would be fine for anyone who is/was an international student?
Kind regards,
Lulu Shen

Student accomodations in brisbane
|
posted by:Vanessa Tabry on: 5 Jan 2012

I'm a Canadian student registered at the university of Queensland for february till june. I was trying to arrange my living accomodations. I've met a few people who rented fully furnished apartments in advance, online and had no problems, while others recommended I first go to brisbane and THEN look around for a place to live (which would mean that i wouldnt be stuck if the pre-rented place turned out to be pretty bad). I know of some websites like http://www.thepad.com.au/students/, which seemed promising. But I'm not too sure about renting before arriving. at the same time, I'm afraid of not finding anything good when I arrive, if place are all gone. I was looking for a place at 220$ a week or less. Any advice in terms of whether I should rent in advance or only when I arrive?
Thanks a lot!
Vanessa

what do Chinese students miss about China

Hello Vivian,
my name is Greg Worthington, Zhong Gou Ming Zi, Li Zhong Ao.
At the moment I'm an English teacher in Nantong, Jiang Su Province, working at the Nantong Radio and Television University. I also work part time at a private school preparing students for their exams to enable them to attend schools overseas.
A question or two, if I may. What do Chinese students miss about China whilst studying in Australia? I gather at the top of any list would be family and friends, but what else do they miss? Also, what are the easy and difficult things students face when they come to Brisbane?
Thanking you in advance

Hi Pardeep,
Nice to see you there. Actually I have a little confusion regarding money matter. I wish to admit in Central University of Queensland. My queries are following.
1. What amount of money should I bring prior to land in Brisbane?
2. How can I get accommodation in Brisbane?
3. Is food, living etc expensive in Brisbane?
4. Would I able to get part time job immediately?

Hi!
I asked you before about biking in the city.I was just reading your blog about your car purchase. It looks cheap to buy a car in Australia. Any major hidden costs? what about insurance and your Canadian license? would you highly recommend getting a car to get the most our of exploring the coast? If you could expand on your car purchasing /ownership experience, that would be great!
Tthanks

muchas gracias

What steps should I take besides officially applying to the University?

HOLA ALEYDA
RECIBE NUESTROS SALUDOS DESDE VALDIVIA, CHILE.
ESTOY INICIANDO LA BUSQUEDA DE INFORMACION PUES QUISIERA POSTULAR, Y SI TENEMOS SUERTE, SER ACEPTADA PARA HACER MI Ph D EN UQ. SOY EPIDEMIOLOGA Y ACADEMICO DE LA UNIVERSIDAD AUSTRAL DE CHILE, POR LO QUE EL DOCTORADO ES EL PASO PROXIMO DENTRO DE MI CARRERA ACADEMICA. TENGO 32 AÑOS, MI ESPOSO CLAUDIO 37,Y NUESTROS PEQUEÑOS, CRISTOBAL Y LAURA TIENEN 4 Y MEDIO Y CASI 2 AÑOS RESPECTIVAMENTE. TENEMOS TANTAS DUDAS!!!! YA TENEMOS CLARO EL TEMA COSTO NO SOLO DE VIDA SINO DE ESTUDIOS POR LO QUE LAS BECAS DEBEN OBVIAMENTE SER UNA OPCION. A VECES SENTIMOS QUE PUDIESE SER DIFICIL PARA LOS NIÑOS, Y NO TENEMOS MUY CLARO COMO SERA LA VIDA DE ELLOS ALLA EN LO QUE A EDUCACION Y SALUD SE REFIERE. ¿PODRIAS CONTARNOS UN POCO TU EXPERIENCIA EN ESTAS AREAS?. OTRA PREGUNTA, POR MI RELACION CON LA UNIVERSIDAD PUEDO ACCEDER A BECAS CHILE (NADIE DICE Q ME LA GANARE PERO AL MENOS VAMOS A INTENTARLO), SIN EMBARGO MI ESPOSO ES VETERINARIO DE ANIMALES DE COMPAÑIA, INDEPENDIENTE, (TIENE PRESTIGIOSA CLINICA EN VALDIVIA HACE CASI 12 AÑOS) POR LO QUE LOS BENEFICIOS A SU ALCANCE APARENTEMENTE SON MINIMOS O NULOS ¿TIENES ALGO DE INFORMACION EN ESTE AMBITO?. ÉL N O TIENE PROBLEMAS CON IR A TRABAJAR EN LO Q SEA Y DEDICARSE A LOS NIÑOS, PERO UN CLINICO DEBE HACER CLINICA!!! JAJAJ. NO PODRIA ESTAR 4 AÑOS APROX SIN HACER LO Q SIEMPRE HA HECHO Y MANTENERSE VIGENTE. ¿SABES SI LA CONVALIDACION DE TITULO UNIVERSITARIO ES POSIBLE ALLA? ¿ALGUN DATO PARA QUE ÉL ESTUDIE Y TENGA ALGUN BENEFICIO DE BECA? MI INGLES ES MUY MUY BUENO, EL DE CLAUDIO NO TANTO.
TE AGRADECEREMOS MUCHO ESTOS DATOS
SALUDOS DESDE VALDIVIA!!!

Musst Du z.B. work experiences machen?

Atentamente,
